Funeral services for Nancy N. Deen, 94, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 13, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Nancy passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home.
Nancy Joyce Newland was born January 19, 1923, in Los Angeles, CA, to parents, Harvey Newland and Joyce Percey Newland. She was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Pasadena High School. Nancy attended college at UCLA where she met Jack Deen. They married in Pasadena on January 22, 1946. She and Jack lived in Wills Point and started Deen Dairy in 1955, where they raised 8 children. Nancy graduated from East Texas State University in 1981, with a finance degree. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point and volunteered in the baby room for 65 years. Nancy was a bookkeeper for White Rose Cemetery and the First Baptist Learning Center. She served on the Board of Directors for First Baptist Learning Center and was selected Wills Point Woman of the Year. Nancy never said no to an extra person at her table.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Joyce Newland and her husband, Jack Egbert Deen in 1976 and a sister, Margaret Newland Cooper.
Nancy is survived by her children, Peggy Deen Grant and husband, Richard of Plano, Jackie Ragland and husband, Keith of Wills Point, John Deen and wife, Linda of Wills Point, George Deen and wife, Lenna of Dallas, Nancy Deen Giles of Bloomsburg, PA, Patty Brightwell of Wills Point, Bobby Deen and wife, Debbie of Wills Point and Richard Deen and wife, Cathy of Edgewood; twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Edward Harvey Newland and wife, Anne of California, sister, Patricia Hoffman and husband, Walter of California and brother-in-law, Ted Deen, Sr. of Wills Point.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
