Funeral services for Yolanda “Yolie” Urlanda Segui Rohus, 82, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Yolanda Urlanda Segui Rohus was born October 9, 1941, in Gumaca, Quezon, Philippines to Santiago D. Segui and Generosa L. Urlanda Segui. She passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her home after a 3-year courageous and hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer.
She was raised in the country and graduated from Quezon East High School. As a young girl she decided that planting rice was not fun, so she moved with her aunt and uncle to the city. There she attended Manila Central University, graduating with a nursing degree in midwifery. Her career began at the Lutheran Baby Clinic where she worked for 12 years advancing to supervisor.
In 1975, she was recruited to Iran for work. There she was employed as a nanny by an American banker and his wife. After traveling several countries, she came to the United States with that family in 1976, to their home in Beverly Hills, California, where she remained until 1980. She met William Roger “Bill” Rohus that same year and they were married on August 16, 1980, in Breckenridge, Texas. They moved to Wills Point where she lived until her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers. One brother survives her, Arnaldo Segui and two sisters, Norma Segui Andoy and Luz Segui Roxas, of the Philippines.
Bill often called her Midge because of her small stature, but that small body was full of energy. She worked constantly in her yard and flowers and was complimented often on their beauty. She loved to cook her traditional Filipino food and was well known for her eggrolls. Her family and friends could eat them as fast as she could cook them. Yolanda was a bundle of energy, a very caring person and helped the family constantly with cooking, cleaning or whatever she saw was needed. She was such a blessing to our family and her absence will leave a void that will never be filled.
Yolanda is also survived by her Texas family, stepson Roger Dane Rohus of San Antonio, stepdaughter Pam Erwin (Ricky) of Wills Point, sisters-in-law Juadene Rohus Harper (Randall) of Terrell, and Kathey Rohus Taldo (Terry) of Wills Point.
Grandchildren Roger D Rohus (Kendra) of Pasco, Washington, Leah Rohus, PJ Bramhall (Amanda) of Wills Point and Willie Erwin (Shawna) of Kaufman. There are many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family both in the Philippines and the USA.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to VITAS Hospice of Greenville and especially to Nurses Cori, Donna, and Stephanie for their guidance through this difficult journey.
