Wilbur Douglas Owen, Sr., age 90, of Grand Saline, TX, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was born on January 21, 1934, in Tyler, TX, to the late Henry Lee Owen and Katy Mardel Warren Owen.
Wilbur proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On September 6, 1958, he married the love of his life, Doris M. Williams, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. Wilbur spent 26 dedicated years employed in facility maintenance with American Airlines before retiring.
In 1983, Wilbur and Doris settled in Wills Point, TX, where they became cherished members of the community. Wilbur was a faithful member of Round Flat Pentecostal Church, where he found joy and camaraderie with his church family. He had a passion for restoring classic cars and turning forgotten items into treasures.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katy Owen; his beloved wife, Doris Owen; his son, Wilbur Owen, Jr.; three brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Jeannette Owen of Grand Saline, TX, and adopted Jason Quintanilla of Grand Saline, TX,who remembers him as a devoted father and role model; grandchildren, Gilbert Corbell and wife Lisa, Hunter Owen; along with nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate Wilbur's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Round Flat Pentecostal Church in Grand Saline, TX. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
