Wanda Jean Graves, 86, a resident of Dallas, TX, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. Her life will be celebrated in a funeral service held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Dallas, with visitation one hour prior to service. At 1:00pm she will be laid to rest at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point. Arrangements are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Wanda was born on November 30, 1937, in Kaufman County, TX, to Franklin Glen Wood and Eloise Via Wood. Growing up near the Cobb community in Kaufman County, she attended Mesquite High School, graduating in 1956. On August 3, 1957, she married her beloved husband, Ben Graves, and together they forged a life filled with love and devotion for 67 years.
Wanda faithfully worked for 25 years at Watson Electric Company as a bookkeeper and accounts payable clerk. In November 1981, she retired and began her true calling to care for and love her grandkids and numerous other children. She & Ben were faithful members of Pleasant Grove Christian Church for over 59 years. She was dedicated to the nursery department and helped with Sunday School wherever needed. She served on the Christian Women’s Fellowship group for many years.
Wanda and Ben loved to travel and went to some amazing & exciting places. They enjoyed traveling with close friends from church and also with their kids. They also enjoyed going to their grandkids and great grandkids events.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Eloise Wood, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Claudette Wood, and her son-in-law, Patrick Taylor. She leaves behind legacy of love and cherished memories for her husband, Ben Graves of Dallas, TX; her son, Jeff Graves and wife Linda of Rowlett, TX; her daughter, Jana Taylor of Lewisville, TX; her 7 grandkids & spouses, Casey & Stacy Graves; Colby & Jessica Graves; Courtney & Dwayne King; Haley & Joey McSweeney; Bethany & Jared Thornton; Allison & Matt Lee; Amy & Khris Graves; 16 great grandkids, Blain & Faith Graves; Gracie, Adyson & Rylynn Graves; Colsen, Callie & Caleb King; Brooks McSweeney; Isaac, Benjamin & Leah Thornton; Grace, Mattie & Parker Lee; Nora Graves; her sister, Judy Fincher and husband David; her brother, Terry Wood and wife Norma; sister-in-law Mildredann and husband Sherwin Hankins as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
