A gathering for family and friends for Stephen Lance Baker, 67, of Edgewood, Texas, is scheduled for 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Stephen passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021, at his home in Edgewood.
Stephen Lance Baker was born on October 22, 1953, in Meridian, Texas, to parents, Dale Lee Baker and Cleo Ann McNeill Baker. He was raised in various areas of Texas. After graduating from high school, Stephen served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He married Dorothy Des Angles on November 27, 1987, in Kaufman County and they moved to Edgewood in 1988, to make their home. Stephen attended Kilgore Police Academy and worked in law enforcement in Broken Bow, OK, Grand Saline and Seven Point, TX. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. Stephen loved his horses and enjoyed leather work. He was a loving husband, father and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Cleo Baker; sister, Diana Gail Baker.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Baker of Edgewood, TX; sons, Stephen L. Baker, Jr. of Coppell, TX, and Johnathon L. Baker of Edgewood, TX; uncle, Mike McNeill and wife, Judy of Stephenville, TX; nephews, Mark McNeill and Michael McNeill; three grandchildren and good friends, Ed Holland, Noland Bradley and Dexter Barcley.
