Shirley Jean Valentine

Funeral services for Shirley Jean Valentine, 87, of Edgewood, TX, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, September 6, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Bright Star Cemetery.

Shirley passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Shirley Jean Patterson was born on April 16, 1935, in Terrell, TX, to parents Carl Robert Patterson and Lorene Barton Patterson. She was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School, Class of 1953. Shirley married Loyd Valentine on June 30, 1956, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to being a homemaker, she was also employed as an IBM operator in billing for American Petrofina Oil Company for more than 10 years in Dallas. Shirley and Loyd had been in the Edgewood community since 1972. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Valentine; parents, Carl and Lorene Patterson; sisters, Carlene Patterson Colquitt and Olga Lee Patterson Gentry; niece, Linda Gentry Tyler.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Karen Valentine Wiggins and husband John of Palmer, TX; son, Kevin Obrien Valentine and Kay Schafer of Hawkins, TX; grandchildren, Kristin Wiggins Jones and husband Cody, Bryan Patrick Wiggins, Kaitlin Morgan Wiggins, Christopher Nelson Valentine and Lauren Michelle Valentine; great grandchildren, Josie Lynn Jones, Tessa Jolene Jones and Brady Leland Wessinger.
