Ruby Turner Obituary

Ruby Rogers Turner, 86, of Edgewood, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025, in Wills Point, TX.

Funeral services to honor Ruby’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Bright Star Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Small Cemetery. Visitation will take place two hours before the service, from Noon to 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Born on March 11, 1939, in Cameron, TX, Ruby was the daughter of Clarence Edwin Rogers and Bertha Viola Choea Rogers. She was raised in Daniel’s Children’s Home in Fairfield, TX, where she completed her education. On May 2, 1970, Ruby married the love of her life, Paul Turner, and together they built a life filled with love and family in Garland. In 1992, they settled in the Edgewood community, where Ruby became a cherished member.

Ruby dedicated over 30 years to Safeway Grocery, where she was over ordering and stocking of the nonfood items. She was known for her warm smile, dedication to her work, and kindness toward customers and colleagues. Outside of her career, Ruby was a woman of many passions. She was a devoted member of Bright Star Baptist Church and an active participant in the Red Hat Society, where she found joy in friendship and fellowship. She also had a deep appreciation for history and nostalgia, lovingly collecting Depression glass and Kewpie dolls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bertha Rogers; her brothers, Walter, Roy, and Bobby Rogers; and her sisters, Ruth Shaver, Ann Higginbotham, Dorothy Rogers, and Ida Rogers.

Above all, Ruby’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Paul Turner of Edgewood, TX; daughters, Donna Allen, Deborah Black, and Donna Garrett; sons, Dennis Turner, David Turner, and Doug Turner; her brother, Thomas Rogers; fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
