Roy "Roger" Moore Obituary

Funeral services for Roy Roger Moore, 83, Wellington, Fl, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, May 16, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, officiated by Pastor David Cartwright.  Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Roy Roger “Honey” Moore was born on August 11, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Roy Geraldine Moore and Gwendolyn Cavell White Moore. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing active duty before continuing in the Army Reserves for twenty-eight years. On April 15, 1961, he married the love of his life, Janice Rosetta Snider. Together, they shared sixty-four years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Roger worked as a sales associate for Massengill Pharmaceuticals and later with Riker Laboratories, a division of 3M, where he was recognized five times as a Top Producer before retiring. A skilled and passionate pilot, Roger founded his own aviation business, training aspiring pilots and flying corporate jets. He also served with the Federal Aviation Administration as an inspector, policy writer, and enforcement officer in Lubbock and Weatherford for 29 years. In 2017, he and his wife, Jan, relocated to Wills Point to be near their daughter, Karen. Roger was a devoted member of Russell Memorial Methodist Church. As his health declined, he and Jan moved to Wellington, Florida, to be closer to their daughter Pam and her family. They settled into a beautiful independent living facility, with plans to eventually move into a home with Pam.

An avid outdoorsman, Roger enjoyed both bird and deer hunting. He was also a voracious reader, especially drawn to science fiction and military history. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To his family, he was affectionately known as “Honey.” Roger was a member of Russell Memorial Methodist Church in Wills Point while living in the community.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Steve Moore; his parents-in-law, Herman and Alma Snider; and brothers-in-law, Roger Snider and Ronnie Snider.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice R. Moore; daughters, Pam Dolberry of Wellington, FL, and Karen Hiett and husband Dan of Wills Point, TX; son, Roger Alan Moore and wife Shaughn of Omaha, NE; sister, Joy Moore of Aledo, TX; grandchildren, Ashley Civetti and husband Matt, Cailan Ellison and husband Bailor, Chandler Dolberry, Taylor Skelton and wife Shanna, Hunter Hiett and wife Kaci, Aley Moore, Savannah Beltran Moore and husband Stephen, Shannon Allen and husband Rob, Will Moore, Jill Moore and Aidan Moore; and great-grandchildren, Harper Civetti, Haven Civetti, Evelyn Ellison, Daisie Ellison, Lizzy Sanders, Landrie Sanders, Amelia Moore, and Harry Beltran.
