Roy Earl Rogers

A gathering for the family and friends of Roy Earl Rogers, 83, of Wills Point, TX, will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday, December 5, 2022, at New Release Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial be at Ellis Chapel Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.  

Roy passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Roy Earl Rogers was born on Mar 26, 1939, to Will and Ethel Rogers. He was the youngest of eleven children. Roy graduated from Wills Point High School in 1957. He was active in football, basketball and baseball. Roy coached little league baseball for several years. Roy married Nancy June Johnson on November 15, 1958, and they raised four children. He was a loving and faithful father and husband.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ethel Rogers; daughters, Leaann and Sarah Lea Rogers; sisters, Wilma Ragland, Lucille Tate, Thelma Foster, Lula Belle Laney, Beaulah Dale Thomlinson and Delona Wade; brothers, Elmer (Buster) Felix, Billy Joe Rogers and James Ray Rogers.

Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Rogers; daughter, Sara Jane Gonzalez and husband Johnny; son, Paul David Rogers; three granddaughters, Brittany Byars, Crystal Gist and husband Brad, and Amber Moody and husband Robert; grandson, John Mitchell Pitts; great grandchildren, Mason and Callie Gist and Samuel Moody.
