Rodney Karl Roten, 75, passed away on December 30, 2022, in Canton, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Rodney was born to Louis and Mamie Roten in Stanton, Texas, on February 28, 1947. He grew up in Stanton and attended Stanton schools, playing in the band, and serving as the Drum Major in high school. After graduating from high school in 1965 he went to work for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies. Shortly after beginning his time with Western Electric, he joined the US Army serving for three years with a one-year tour spent with field artillery in Viet Nam in 1968. After his discharge he returned to Western Electric where he worked in North Dakota, Nevada, and California as well as his many years in Midland, Texas until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Louis Roten.
Rodney is survived by his children, Angela Kinnett and husband Mike of Edgewood, Texas, Trevor Roten of Port Aransas, Texas, and Stephanie Melton and husband Derrick of Midland, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Krista Whitney, Logan Kinnett, Amanda Adamson, Ashleigh Roten, Alec Roten, Kayla Gray, Hayden Murphey, Morgan Phillips, Sterling Melton, Corbin Melton, and Lexi Melton; 14 great-grandchildren, Carson Phillips, Aubree Phillips, Kannon Murphey, Blakeley Murphey, Cecellia Melton, Ellie Melton, Kendall Whitney, Lola Kinnett, Ethan Trevino, Amelia DiMase, Braedon Jimenez, Braelynn Jimenez, Branson Adamson, and Noah Gray; brother, Robert Roten and wife Patty of San Marcos, Texas, and sister, Rhonda Gilliland of Midland, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Rodneys’ caregivers at Canton Oaks Nursing Home and Hospice Plus.
