Robert “Bob” Samuel Brooks, Jr., 78, of Hideaway, TX, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Tyler.
Bob was born on September 27, 1946, in Dallas, TX, to Robert Samuel Brooks, Sr. and Isabelle Waleska Roland Brooks. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1968. Bob attended SMU Cox School of Business and later East Texas State University (East Texas A&M University), where he earned his teaching certificate. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the finance department.
On December 29, 1973, Bob married Patsy Lybrand, and together they made their home in Dallas before moving to Wills Point in 1984. He dedicated his career to education, teaching all levels of math, serving as head of the math department, and coaching golf at Wills Point ISD until his retirement.
Bob and Patsy moved to Ben Wheeler twenty years ago where he was a member of Church at the Mill in Ben Wheeler and recently moved to Hideaway. Bob cherished the joy of being with his grandchildren, enjoyed time spent on the golf course and his involvement with the SMU Mustang Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Patricia Ann Brooks; and his brother-in-law, Joe Marion Dixon.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patsy Brooks of Hideaway, TX; sons, Adam Brooks and wife Susan of Lindale, TX, and Eric Brooks and wife Aaron of Edgewood, TX; sisters, Charlotte Ann Snider and husband Frank of Wills Point, TX, and Bobbi Kay Dixon of Rockwall, TX; and his beloved grandchildren, Case Brooks, Hayes Brooks, Bailey Brooks, and Colbie Brooks.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
