Family and friends are invited to attend the service and pay their respects. Andy’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery during a private family service.
Andy was born on May 26, 1947, in Texas, to his loving parents, the late BJ and Nina Anderson. As a young boy, Andy had many passions, but his greatest was airplanes. Andy learned how to fly his Dad's Cessna 180 while in high school. He was a licensed pilot upon enlisting in the Unites States Army in 1966 at age 19. While in the Army, Andy served his country as a Chief Warrant Officer in the 1st Aviation Brigade. He was a pilot of the Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft in the Vietnam war. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial reconnaissance. Andy loved to brag that he had been shot up, but never shot down in battle. Andy earned a BS in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and went on to spend his career flying Boeing 737’s and business jets as a corporate pilot. He worked Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO) in Anchorage, Alaska, Heritage Securities Corporation in Dallas, Texas, and ended his career as a Flight Instructor.
Andy and his wife Sherry are the proud parents of two daughters who both adored their dad. Andy’s big heart and loving demeanor made him an easy man to love. He was also a member of New Release Fellowship Baptist Church in Wills Point upon his death. Andy’s faith in Jesus Christ gives his family peace that his eternal resting place is in heaven with his perfect Father. John 1:12-13
