Funeral services for Rita Joyce Bailey, 80, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Rita passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Greenville, TX.

Rita Joyce Simmons was born on April 18, 1940, in Terrell, TX, to parents, Roy Frank Simmons and Alice Louise Reed Simmons. She raised in the Dallas area and attended Mesquite Independent School District before moving to Edgewood where she attended high school. Rita married Edgar Ray Bailey, Jr. on August 3, 1957, in Oklahoma and they moved to Mesquite, where they lived most of their lives. She was employed by Texas Instruments in Dallas working on the electronics assembly line and was also a homemaker. In 1992, Rita and Ray moved to the Bailey home place to be closer to their family. Rita was a member of the Turner Hayden Baptist Church. She moved to Greenville in the year 2017. Rita loved fishing, bowling and participating in leagues. She also enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and working in the garden.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alice Louise Simmons; husband, Edgar Ray Bailey, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Simmons Long; daughter-in-law, Debbie Bailey.

Rita is survived by her son, Steven Ray Bailey of Elko, NV; daughter, Carron Prigmore and husband, Frank of Campbell, TX; brother, Roy Simmons, Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Emory, TX; grandchildren, Jeffrey Prigmore, Wade Prigmore and Stevi Bailey; two great grandchildren, William Taylor Prigmore, II., and Ramsey Taylor Prigmore; along with many other relatives and friends.
