Morris Lee “Booger” Williams, aged 89, of Wills Point, TX, peacefully passed away on July 6, 2024, in Wills Point, TX. Born on May 30, 1935, in Fair Play, TX, Morris was the beloved son of Grover and Berniece Owens Williams.
Morris grew up in Fair Play, TX, where he developed a love for the outdoors. He married the love of his life, Josephine (Josie) Martinez, on December 30, 1980. Together, they built a life in Dallas, TX, where Morris dedicated over 30 years to the City of Dallas in the Parks & Recreation Department, retiring in 2000. His commitment to community and nature was reflected in his work and in the lives he touched.
An alumnus of El Centro College in Dallas, Morris completed his supervisor training in March 1979, which served him well throughout his career. In 1994, Morris and Josie moved to Wills Point, TX, seeking the tranquility of the countryside. Morris found joy in his auto mechanic business he started, working on cars for over 50 years. Morris became a cherished member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and Vice President of the church council for years. His faith and leadership were an inspiration to many.
Morris had a passion for fishing and a deep appreciation for horses, hobbies that brought him immense joy and relaxation. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Berniece Williams; his beloved wife, Josephine (Josie) Williams; his daughter, Jerlean Briggs; and his siblings, Bessie Harris, Jessie Allison, Betty Rockmore, James Williams, Johnnie Mae Williams, Levi Williams, Lavern Williams, Willie Williams, and Annie Faye Owens.
Morris is survived by his loving children, Brenda Jernigan, Virginia Sanders (Leo), Gail Matlock (Patrick), Morris Moreno, David Williams (Tameika), Roy Lee Briggs and Hazel Jones. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Clifford Williams (Areatha), Bobbie Evens, Johnny Williams, and Joyce Brandford (Rica). Morris is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with burial to follow at White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM, Friday, July 12, 2024, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
