Funeral services for Michael Moorehead, 68, of Wills Point, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.

Michael Leon Rene` Moorehead was born December 21, 1953, at Laird Memorial Hospital in Kilgore, Texas. He was the oldest son born to Bobby Don and Flora Jean Sheffield Moorehead who preceded him in death.

Michael attended Cartwright and Wills Point schools graduating from Wills Point High School in 1972. He was as excellent basketball player and was nicknamed “Spider” when taking the ball from opponents because his arms were so long. He was tenacious, very competitive and made everyone on his team look good and even his family. He loved basketball!

Michael professed his faith at the age of ten. He was active in Sunday school, church and BTU. He was taught and baptized by Rev. L.H. Brown as he united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He learned to read by reading versus with his grandmother, ITee. Michael loved knowledge and reading.

He attended Tyler Junior College for one year and decided to enlist in the United States Army. Michael served from 1972-1978, receiving many awards and honors. At his core, Michael was a kind spirit and a beautiful soul. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Michael was the protector of his brother and sister and loved his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories: one son, Michael Woods; five daughters, Sharon (Rodney) Tinnon, Paula Hardin, Monica Tinney, Michelanie Rayford and Micharl Demi' Moorehead; one sister, Michelle Moorehead-Harris; one brother, Marcus Moorehead (Ouida); His legacy of grandchildren, Shadava Woods, Shannon Woods, Markeisha Davis, ShaMichael Woods, Brittney Hardin, Bobby Hardin, Donovan Adkins, Devin Tinney and Eric Chambers; sixteen great grandchildren continue his legacy, Tamjai, KaLynn, Kayden, Ai-rena, Amaryah, Roy, Lodyn, Ke-anna, Dezmond, Kiuntis, Zariyah, Malia, Tresure, Kendravion, Bryson and Aliyah; Lulu Smith, a very special friend, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins will too cherish his memory.
