Michael LaVan Crawford, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away at the age of 72 on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at his home in Wills Point, TX. Michael was born on June 3, 1951, in Tulia, TX, to his parents Carol LaVan Crawford and Geraldine Vaughn Crawford. Michael's early years were spent in Tulia, where he graduated from high school in 1969. His journey then led him to court reporting school in Plainview, where he successfully graduated in the same year. On September 6, 1968, he married the love of his life, LeAnn Minchew. Together, they embarked on a life journey that took them from Tulia to Lubbock, Austin and eventually to Dallas before making their home in Wills Point in 2008.
Throughout his career, Michael worked in various roles, including as a skilled glass glazer. He later ventured into entrepreneurship, owning his own home improvement business where he supervised numerous projects, with a particular focus on replacing windows and doors. Even in semi-retirement by 2020 due to health reasons, Michael remained actively engaged in his work and was well respected his colleagues. Michael had a deep appreciation for music, particularly rock and roll and blues, and proudly adorned his space with music posters that reflected his passion. He also had a deep appreciation of nature of all kinds.
Family was of paramount importance to Michael, and he cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He found immense joy in traveling and exploring new places, creating lasting memories with loved ones. In accordance with his wishes, Michael's ashes will be scattered in the majestic Colorado mountains, and Pie Town New Mexico a place he held dear.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Carol LaVan and Geraldine Crawford and his son, Mark Austin Crawford.
He is survived by his loving wife, LeAnn Crawford of Wills Point, TX; devoted son, Michael Shane Crawford and his wife Michelle of Austin, TX; beloved daughter, Heather Duke of Rockwall, TX; and cherished grandsons, Brendan Duke of Dallas, TX, and Dylan Duke of Denton, TX. Michael also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will forever remember him as a kind-hearted, music-loving, and family-oriented man.
As we mourn the loss of Michael LaVan Crawford, let us also celebrate the rich tapestry of his life, the love he shared, and the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived and cherished.
