Mary Elizabeth Hand was born on August 5, 1936, in Terrell, TX, to parents Clarence Crell Hand and Mary Katherine White Hand. She was raised in Rylie, TX, where she attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in her youth and was very active, in her church choir often being asked to perform solos in church. After graduating from high school, Mary married Bobby C. Parker on December 28, 1953, in First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove.
She and Bobby lived in several places - Dallas, Mesquite, Balch Springs, and Wichita Falls, finally making their home in the Wills Point community in 1990. Throughout her life, Mary worked in a variety of fields, including Lone Star Cadillac in Dallas, an attorney’s office, J.C. Penney on East Grand, a doctor’s office in Fort Worth, and Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
While raising their children, Mary was a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dallas where she continued sharing her beautiful voice in the choir and her “killer” skills as a lefty pitcher on the softball team. Her most recent church home has been First Baptist Church in Edgewood for many years where she has been a devoted member of her Sunday School class until she became ill. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping trips to the Colorado mountains. Mary and Bobby shared 72 wonderful years of marriage, raising three Godly children together and cherishing their growing family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Katherine Hand; brother, Carl Edward Hand; sister, Becky Dennis; as well as a baby lost to a miscarriage in 1955.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Bobby C. Parker of Wills Point, TX; children, Pam Reid of Wills Point, Gina and Chuck Carpenter of Terrell, and Chris Parker and wife Lisa of Canton, TX; grandchildren, Kevin Reid, Brett Carpenter, Katie Murphy, Taylor Ham, Ty Parker, and Tanner Sistrunk; and great-grandchildren, Mason Reid, Ava, Brandon Jr., Aria, and Dakota Murphy, Brenham Carpenter, Ellie Ham and Dusti Jean Sistrunk.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
