Mary Lawson Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Jo Lawson are scheduled for 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.  Services are under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour to service time.

Mary Jo Lawson, 92, of Wills Point, passed away July 20, 2019, at her home in Wills Point.

She was born December 21, 1926, to the late William Elvin Sawyer and Opal Dorthy Cates Sawyer.  She was raised in Brownwood, where she attended school.  Mary Jo married Merle Jean Lawson and they lived in California until relocating to Texas in 1960. She moved to Wills Point in 1972, where was employed at Malouf Manufacturing. Mary Jo was a member of Chapel of the Lake.  She loved to dance and spend time with her family and especially enjoyed cooking lunch for her family after church on Sundays.  She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as, her husband Merle Jean Lawson in 1986, and a son, Larry Elvin Lawson in 1981.

Mary Jo is survived by her son, David Lawson of Wills Point; grandchildren, Nathan Lawson and wife Tanya of Wills Point, David Lawson, Jr. and Melissa of Forney, April Dixon and husband David of Mineola; great grandchildren, Kamryn, Payton, Zoey, Abbie, Chaney, Collin, Autumn, Christa and Savannah; great great grandchildren, Scarlett and Aiden; cousin, Iva Dell Hufstutler of Kerrville; and many other family and friends.
