Funeral services for Mary Lee Barnes, 87, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. A scheduled burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas at 2:00 PM.
Mary Lee Sanders was born May 5, 1932 in Wills Point, Texas to parents, Loy Lee Sanders and Kathleen Faulk Sanders. She was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School. Mary married Samuel Earl Barnes on December 22, 1949, in Tyler, TX, and they made their home in Massachusetts while Samuel served in the military. Mary worked as a nurse for Mass. General Hospital for four years and for twenty-six years she was employed by Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary. Samuel preceded her in death in 1981, and Mary moved back to Wills Point in 1988. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, P.O.W. / M.I.A. Organization and the Greenwood Cemetery Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Loy and Kathleen Sanders; husband, Samuel Earl Barnes; brothers, William A. Sanders, Charles Olan Sanders and Loy Columbus Sanders and daughter, Shirlene Barnes.
Mary is survived by her sons, Anthony Barnes and wife, Fatima of Dorchester, MA, Charles Barnes of Dorchester, MA, Errol Barnes of Jamaica Plains, MA and Kevin K. Barnes of Boston, MA; daughters, Chanel Taylor and husband, Lamont of Easton, MA and W. Jean Robinson and husband, Danny of Brockton, MA; brother, Arvis Sanders and wife, Josie of Wills Point, TX; grandchildren, Orlicia Barnes of Boston, MA, Dwayne Jones of Boston, MA, Charles, Derek, Clifford and Samuel Freeman of Boston, MA, Naima Lewis-Barnes of Boston, MA, Jenee D. Robinson of Brockton, MA, Traciana Barnes of Brockton, MA, Laurence E. Junior of Boston, MA and Kevin K. Harris of Boston, MA; great grandchildren, Gianna K. Preval, Storm R. Pina and Dacarie Junior.
