Marty Joe was born in Grand Saline, TX, on August 4, 1966, to Mary Ann and Joe Henson. He graduated in 1984 from Terrell High School in Terrell, TX. Marty was an avid baseball and football player in high school and had aspirations of playing baseball in college, but life had other plans. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Junior Lodge.
Marty had a great love for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and NASCAR. He was one of his grandson Jayden’s biggest supporters, and the two shared a special bond through their love of sports. Marty had such a big love for his two sisters at times Rashelle joked with him that Traci was his second wife. Marty was a jack of all trades; he could tinker with anything and could even build a house by himself. When it came to history, he could tell you dates and details without hesitation. Anytime you saw Marty, he was either wearing a bandana or a hat, along with his sunglasses.
Marty was united in marriage to Rashelle on November 11, 2017. Life later brought them to Memphis, TN, where Marty and Rashelle were currently living, although they had plans to move back home to Texas soon.
Marty is survived by his wife, Rashelle, along with their dog, Noli, and cat, Tigger; daughter, Whitney (Jason) Wallesch; grandson, Jayden; sisters, Renee and Traci; nephew, Chris; nieces, Brittani (Ken), Andrea (Craig), Anna (Mitchell) and Kelbi; sister-in-law, Regina (Duane) Meeks; uncle, William (Sherry) Henson; great-nieces, Tori, Ariel, and Sage; great-nephew, Chris Jr.; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; nephew, Jason; and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 6:00–8:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
