Martha Marie (Jones) LaPrade

Funeral services for Martha Marie Jones LaPrade, 84, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Martha passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at her home in Fruitvale.

Martha Marie Jones was born June 29, 1933, in Edgewood, TX, to parents, William Frederick Jones, Sr. and Clara Mae Orsborn Jones. She was raised in Edgewood where she graduated high school. Martha married James Dewey LaPrade and they spent over fifty-one wonderful years together before he passed on December 23, 2010. She was a homemaker raising her family, but also worked for Commercial Credit in Dallas for 6 years, as well as worked as a teacher’s aide at Fruitvale ISD. Martha was of the Baptist faith. She loved the peaceful country life, enjoyed shopping and hunting for a good bargain.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Jones; husband, James Dewey LaPrade and brother, Willie Fred Jones and sister, Claire Cobern.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Lori Tirado and husband, Jorge, of Grand Saline; brother, Gaylon Jones and wife, Marguerite, of Ruthven, IA; grandchildren, Kaleb Pitcock, Justin Pitcock and Miguel Tirado, along with many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
