Mark Calley, 70, of Tyler, TX, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Mark Allen Calley was born on July 13, 1955, in Tyler, TX, the youngest of five children, to parents Clifford Roland Calley and Peggy Mayree Friloux. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.
Mark worked as a water treatment technician for Tyler Pipe & Foundry for 20 years and later as an environmental soil testing field supervisor and trainer. During his early years, he was a member of Glenwood Methodist Church in Tyler. An avid daily reader of scripture, he enjoyed Biblical studies with a devoted focus on the Holy Spirit. While living with his sister, Lyn, he also attended Russell Memorial Methodist Church in Wills Point.
In his youth, he swam with siblings for many years on the Tyler Swim Team under coach Johnny Griffith. He was somewhat of a football hero in Jr High and High school where he was noted as having scored the most touchdowns of any team player in a single game. He was an avid collector of country music and enjoyed photography, especially capturing images of the family farm and the Day Lily garden. Mark loved fishing with his mother, Peggy. It is said he never met a stranger and was known for his generosity and willingness to help others.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Calley.
Mark is survived by his mother, Peggy Friloux Denson of Frisco, TX; siblings, Cherry Day of Frisco, TX, Brad Calley and wife Laura of Frisco, TX, Bud Calley and wife Debbie of Richardson, TX, and Doris “Lyn” Haney and husband Gerald of Wills Point, TX; step-son, Aaron Bowman and wife Jennifer of Tyler, TX; step-grandchildren Alexis and Jenni Bowman, and not to forget his faithful pet & constant companion, Jax.
A memorial service is scheduled for October 18th, location will soon be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, TX.
