Funeral services for Lynda Lee Byrd, 87, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. A private burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.

Lynda passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 7, 1937, in Wills Point, TX, Lynda Lee Davis was the daughter of Roy Lee Davis and Emma Cleo Henry Davis. Raised in Fort Worth, she graduated from Pleasant Grove High School before pursuing her passion for helping others by attending nursing school at El Centro College in Mesquite.

On June 30, 1956, Lynda married the love of her life, Don Edward Byrd. They started their life together in Pleasant Grove before settling in Wills Point in 1966, where they raised their family and built a life of love and service.

Lynda dedicated her career to healthcare, working for over a decade with Dr. Lane and Dr. Baker and at Crestwood Nursing Home before joining Terrell State Hospital. At Terrell, she served in staff development for over 14 years before retiring in 2000, though her dedication led her to continue as a contract worker for several years. Known for her compassion and commitment, Lynda also gave back to her community as a volunteer election worker, always greeting voters with kindness and a smile.

Lynda’s life was defined by her devotion to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished time spent with her loved ones. Her warmth, humor, and wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Emma Davis, and her beloved husband, Don Edward Byrd.

Lynda is survived by her children: son Eddie Byrd and wife Cheryl of Wills Point, TX; daughters Donna Risner and husband David of Fairfield, TX, and Kay Hodge and husband Tomie of Atlanta, TX. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Shane Risner, Nikki Hodge, Renee Barber, Megan Burmingham, Clinton Byrd, Rebecca Longino, Austin Roberts, and Lindsey Roberts; her great-grandchildren: Jack, Maddie, Taylor, Camryn, McKenna, Lenora, Titus, Dawson, Jordan, Dillon, Craig, Branson, Lucas, and Ryker; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kaiicen and Clover.
