A Celebration of Life service for Louise Pierrette Smith, 79, of Edgewood, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Louise passed away on December 1, 2024, in Tyler, TX. She was born on July 12, 1945, in Washington D.C., to Louis Pierre Merino and AnnaBella Dupuis Merino. Louise was raised in Canada and Connecticut, graduating from Brian McMahon High School in Norfolk, CT. On February 17, 1976, she married David Earl Smith. Louise worked as an executive secretary for the Dallas Independent School District until retiring in 2005. She was a member of Cheatham Memorial Methodist Church and the Edgewood Lion’s Club. Louise enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, and coloring by numbers on her phone. Her last knitted blanket was for her great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Smith, sister Cherokee Merino Baer, and sister-in-law Theresa Smith.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Audra Smith of Edgewood; brothers Roger “Bill” Merino of Wills Point, TX, and Robert “Bob” Merino and wife Maroy of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law Roger Smith of Edgewood; sisters-in-law Diane Bell and husband Dennis of Edgewood, Lind Woods of San Antonio, and Kathy Justice and husband Larry of Ben Wheeler, TX; grandchildren Joshua Aaron Ward and Emily Lewis of Grand Saline, TX, and Aiden Wayne Jacobs of Edgewood, TX; great-grandchild Tatum Brooke Ward of Grand Saline, TX; and her beloved fur babies, Red, Sage, and Squirt.
