Funeral services for Lonnie Gene Garner, 59, of Grand Saline, TX, is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 7, 2021, at New Beginning Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Lonnie passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, in Tyler.
Lonnie Gene Garner was born on December 25, 1961, in Wichita Falls, TX, to parents
Granville “Gene” Garner and Vera Mae Barton Garner. He was raised in Frisco, TX, where he attended school. Lonnie later obtained his G.E.D. He married Sondra Drinning on December 31, 2010. Sondra preceded him in death. Lonnie was employed by Edgewood Independent School District in the maintenance department for 17 years. He was a dear member of the Edgewood I.S.D. family, was very much loved and will be missed tremendously.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sondra Garner and his father, Gene Garner.
Lonnie is survived by his mother, Vera Garner of Edgewood, TX; brother, Garland Garner and wife, Megan of Edgewood, TX; nieces, Kristen Capps, Rachel Cox and Paige Pickrell; nephews, Xavier Land, Zachary Pickrell and wife, Casey and Malaki Pickrell and wife, Kimberly; along with sixteen great nieces and nephews who he adored.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
