A gathering of family and friends for Lesley Gene Hammonds, 52, of Wills Point, TX, will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Lesley passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, in Tyler.

Lesley Gene Hammonds was born on July 7, 1969, in Waxahachie, TX, to the late

Louis M. Hammonds and Marjorie Lee Ritchey Hammonds. He was a life-long resident of Wills Point and attended Wills Point Schools. Lesley was a mechanic before becoming disabled. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marjorie Hammonds; nephew, Randy Hammonds; brother, Roy Hammonds; brothers-in-law, Bo Mesker and James Harrod.

Lesley is survived by his son, Chris Hammonds of Wills Point, TX; daughter, Hannah Thompson of Wills Point, TX; brothers, Wesley Hammonds and wife, Belinda of Wills Point, TX, and Sonny Hammonds of Athens, TX; sisters, Virginia Bellamy and husband, Wayne of Dallas, TX, Karen Chism and husband, Junior of Forney, TX, Bertha Mesker of Wills Point, TX, and Deborah Harrod of Athens, TX; grandchildren, Paisley Thompson and Taylynn Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.
