Leola Helen (Sanders) Lyons

Funeral services for Leola Helen Lyons, of Wills Point, will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be start at 6:00 pm and the wake will be held at 7:00 pm.

Leola passed away July 10, 2022, at her home in Wills Point at the age of 99.

Leola Helen Sanders was born April 10, 1923, to the late Willie Sanders and Versie Mae Morehead Sanders.  She was raised in Red Land, TX, where she graduated from high school. She married L.K. Lyons September 18, 1946 in Wills Point, and he preceded her in death. Leola worked at Malouf Manufacturing and at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until her health failed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as, her husband, L.K. Lyons; 2 infant children; sons, Leon Lyons and Bennell Lyons; brothers, Walter Sanders, O.T. Love, Walter Love, and Charles Sanders; sisters, Lillie Veasley, Elsie Wright, Bertha Moton, Mercedes Sanders and Willie Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Lyons of Wills Point, James H. Lyons of Dallas, Sherman Lyons of Wills Point, and Robert Lyons of Wills Point; daughters, Theresa Handy and husband L.D. of Wills Point and Patricia Fields of Wills Point, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relative and friends.

The family requests that masks or face coverings be worn to all services.
