Leah Brooke Cherry, 50, of Edgewood, TX, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Canton, surrounded by the love of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood, with burial following at Small Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the family to help with funeral expenses.
Leah was born on December 28, 1974, to Douglas William Foster and Edra Jan Davis Foster. She was raised in the Edgewood-Limestone area and attended local schools. On November 16, 1991, she married the love of her life, Daniel Wayne Cherry, in Grossbeck, TX, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love in Edgewood.
Leah had a strong work ethic and a heart for serving others. She worked as a waitress from 1997 to 2008 before transitioning to a career as a tax assistant at Rozanna’s Accounting Tax Service, where she provided dedicated service to clients for many years. A woman of faith, she attended Kingdom Church in Canton.
Beyond her work, Leah was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She found joy in caring for her family and treasured time spent with her loved ones. A passionate reader, she could often be found lost in a book, captivated by stories and knowledge. She was also an avid fan of True Crime stories and loved unwinding with episodes of American Dad.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents, Doug Foster and Edra Davis Foster; her sister, Becky Hudson; and her grandmother, Doris Greer.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her husband, Daniel Cherry of Edgewood, TX; her son, Murphy Cherry of Edgewood, TX; her daughters, Jana Corey and husband Nicholas of Edgewood, TX, and Nicole Simmons and husband Coleman of Edgewood, TX; her brothers, Chad Foster of Edgewood, TX, and Ivan Meek and wife Meredith of Athens, TX; her sister, Lyndsay Hayes and husband Josh, along with their children, Eryn Harris and Austin Hayes; sister, Amanda Meek of Athens, TX; and her adored grandchildren, Ellie Bishop, Emmie Bishop, Hallie Simmons, Lenox Corey, Anderson Simmons, and one eagerly anticipated grandchild, Maddox Corey.
Leah’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
