Latrece (Heddin) Martin

Funeral services for Latrece Heddin Martin, a lifelong resident of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Family visitation will be held one hour before the service, with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Ryan Simmons and Pastor Jonathan Leach officiating. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Latrece Heddin was born on March 17, 1935, in Edgewood to Marion and Janie Foster Heddin. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1953 and married Jessie Martin, Jr. on the day of her graduation. A talented seamstress, Latrece owned her own fabric shop and served the sewing needs of her community and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelius Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of forty-nine years, Jessie Martin, Jr; five sisters, five brothers, and a great-grandson.

Latrece is survived by her daughters Pam Simmons and husband Roy, Joanie Langford and husband Ricky, both of Edgewood, and Becky Gilbreath and husband Greg of Quitman; her best friend and sister, Linda Henderson; grandchildren Ryan and Leah Simmons, Brent and Lindsay Simmons, Corey Smith, Jessica and Brandon Epperson, Todd Gilbreath, Cody and Brittani Gilbreath, and Kim and Steven Ingram; 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and three more on the way.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Fidelius Class, care of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
