Joyce Marie Spence

Funeral services for Joyce Marie Spence, 72, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, February 27, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Joyce passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Plano.

Joyce Marie Whitfield was born on August 4, 1950, in Palacios, TX, to parents Roger Clyde Whitfield and Julia Christeen Brannan Whitfield. She was raised in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1968. Joyce moved to the Dallas area in 1989, while working in accounting. She retired from Reserve Life Insurance Company and Fed Ex after a long career. While living in Dallas, Joyce was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family, but most of all her granddaughters and great grandson. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Christeen Whitfield.

Joyce is survived by her son, John Spence and wife, Lynnette of Forney, TX; brother, Randy Whitfield and wife Linda of Edgewood, TX; sister, Janie James and husband Eric of Edgewood, TX; grandchildren, Morgan Phelps and husband Taylor, Caroline Spence and significant other Edgar Espinoza, Bailey Phelps and husband Trent, Caiti Spence and significant other Cheyenne Pennington, and Miley Spence; and one great grandson, Harrison Wayne Phelps.
