Joyce Lee Horner, 78, of Terrell, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 5, 2024, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, with visitation held one hour prior. Burial will follow at Bright Star Cemetery.
Joyce was born on November 16, 1945, in Water Valley, MS, to Linda Bryan Moorman and Alberta Hayles Moorman. She grew up in Dallas, where she graduated from W. W. Samuel High School.
On July 17, 1981, Joyce married Sid Horner in Dallas, TX. She worked as the office manager for the Dallas County Commissioner’s Office for over 20 years before retiring. Joyce and Sid were dedicated members of Seven Oaks Baptist Church in Wills Point. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and cooking, and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Linda and Alberta Moorman; her husband, Sid Horner; and her siblings, Linda Jean McClatchy, Faye Martin and Margaret Bryan Moorman; son, Darrel Horner; and daughter, Tracy Horner Fontenot.
She is survived by her children: Tanya Walls and husband Keith of Waco, TX; Janee Gentry and husband Scott of Terrell, TX; Melody Breneman and husband Leon of Alvin, TX; and Bryan Guinn of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Misty Fontenot and partner Ash, Stephanie Clay and husband Russell, Glen Ray Fontenot and wife Jakole, Bret Ramer and wife Andi, Casey Guinn and wife Chelsie, Brittany Faubion and partner Ryan, Will Dunn and wife Breanne, Kara Heathman and fiancé Parker Christman, James Walls, Tina Enochs, Leah Fleming and husband Jared, Devan Gentry, and Kristin Gentry; and her great-grandchildren: Jacob Fontenot, Tatum Fontenot, Elijah Fontenot, Layton Ramer, Callie Enochs, Marly Enochs, Landon Brown, Emma Fleming, Kaegan Gentry, Trenton Gentry, Ayden Gentry, Jayden Gentry, Colden Petitpas and Ellie Lewis.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
