Funeral services for Johnny Kale, 75, of Terrell, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow the service at Elmo Cemetery.
Johnny passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home.
Johnny Lee Kale was born on December 11, 1950, in Terrell, to parents, Theodore Claude Kale and Helen Baxter Kale. He was raised in the Cobb Community and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1970. Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. He married Shirley Harris on July 10, 1987, at Able Springs Church of Christ, of which he was a lifelong member.
Johnny operated a grave service business for more than 15 years. Most recently, he worked for Kaufman County on the roads and bridges until retiring in 2010. He loved telling stories and “bull corning,” watching rodeos and bull riding, and enjoying westerns on TV. Johnny also enjoyed driving his tractor, gardening, and watching sunsets. He adored riding and training horses, loved his dogs and cats, and was fondly thought of by his nieces and nephews.
Johnny had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. To know Johnny was to love him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Kale and Helen Baxter Robinson; three brothers, Bill, Frank, and Ted; and one sister, Georgie.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Shirley Kale of Terrell, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
