Private services for John O. Dolan, 76, of Emory, Texas, were held at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.
John passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
John Olan Dolan was born on May 22, 1949, in Big Spring, Texas, to LeRoy Dolan and Armida Joy Cuthbertson Dolan. He was raised in Big Spring, where he attended and graduated from high school.
Following graduation, John entered the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era, Gulf War Era, and Peacetime from October 1968 to August 1975, and again from July 2003 to February 2004. He attended college from 1975 through 1978, earning his associate degree.
John’s military career was extensive. He served in the Air National Guard in 1978 and again from 1984 until his retirement in 2004. John also served as a supervisor for Southland Corporation from 1980 to 1984.
After retirement, John operated an embroidery business at First Monday Trade Days and later owned and operated Edgewood Hardware from 2005 to 2007. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his garden. John was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy Dolan and Armida Dolan MacLean, and his sisters, Diana Lynn Dolan and Debra Lea Dolan Pointer.
John is survived by his wife, Vicki Dolan of Emory, Texas; sons, Johnny Dolan and wife Rachelle of Edgewood, Texas, and Bryan Kirkland and wife Jessica of Stevensville, Montana; daughters, Sherri Seymore and husband Donnie of Granbury, Texas, and Laurie Honea and husband Adam of Leesburg, Texas; brother, Charlie McCarley and wife Val of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Dana Dolan of Abilene, Texas, and Robbie Jo Miller and husband Lloyd of Bridgeport, Texas; along with 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
