In Loving Memory of Joe Bob Wilson: A Life Embraced with Purpose and Love

Joe Bob Wilson, a beloved resident of Mexia, Texas, for five cherished years, passed away on August 26, 2023, at Hillcrest Baylor Scott and White in Waco. Born on December 29, 1935, in Wills Point, Texas, to the proud parents Hubert G. Wilson "Snuffy" and Ruth Petit, Joe Bob's journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and a profound sense of purpose.

Born and raised in Wills Point  and at the age of 22, he embarked on a new chapter, marrying Glynda Mae Burgess on March 13, 1957. Their love was blessed with three wonderful children: Sandra Lynn Wilson Rhodes of Caddo Mills, Terry Jo Jenson of Mexia, and Richard Manuel Wilson of Iowa.

Joe Bob's professional journey led him to The Dallas Morning News, where he dedicated over 30 years to the maintenance department. His skills and commitment left an indelible mark on the company. In his retirement, he found solace in the tranquility of Kerens, Texas.

An emblem of strength and devotion, Joe Bob's life extended beyond the professional realm. His involvement in the Kerens Missionary Baptist Church was a testament to his unwavering faith. He served as a deacon and worship leader, inspiring those around him with his commitment to his beliefs.

At 87 years old, Joe Bob's handiwork knew no bounds. His family, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, lovingly referred to him as "Superman." Whether it was building, fixing, or simply being a steadfast presence, he was always there to lend a helping hand.

Joe Bob is survived by his first daughter Sandra Lynn Wilson Rhodes, and her family: Carissa and Don Garner, Anthony Wilson, Catrina and Bobby Capps, Alex Evans, Angel Garcia, Hugo Viera, and Alaina Viera. And loving daughter Terry Jo and John William Jenson's family: James Wilson and Elizabeth Jenson, Jordan Jenson, Elliott Jenson, Katherine and Adam Care, Maeve Care, and Esme Care. Son Richard Manuel and Kris Wilson's family: Richard and Kelly Wilson, Keona Wilson, Levi Wilson, Jasmin Wilson, and Ryan and Tiara Wilson.
