Jimmy Earl Lane, 85, of Grand Saline, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Tyler, Texas.
Jimmy was born on April 22, 1940, in Abilene, TX, to James Thomas Lane and Georgia Erline Barrett Lane. He was raised in Abilene and later in Dallas, where he graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. In 1984, Jimmy married Kathy in Hugo, Oklahoma and they lived happily together for 41` years. He and Kathy lived in several cities including Duncanville, Combine, and later Tool, where they spent ten years before settling in Grand Saline three years ago to be closer to family.
Jimmy worked as a plumber and pipe fitter with Local 100 and served as a superintendent for Natkin & Co. before retiring. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, was an avid fisherman and loved wood carving.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Erline Lane; his son, Kenneth Lane; and his grandson, David Scot Lane, II.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lane of Grand Saline, TX; sons, Scot Lane and wife Julie of Cash, TX, Steve Lane and wife Donna of Ferris, TX, and Harwood C. Lee and husband Ryan Armistead-Lee of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Kristi Hitt and husband Ricky of Grand Saline, TX; grandchildren, Carson Lane, Melissa Robinson, Trent Koller, Ashton Womack, Tyler Hitt, Maci Koller, Cole Hitt, Dee Lane and Shawn Lane; along with several great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
