Jimmie Euell McKnight

A private burial for Jimmie McKnight, 92, of Richardson, formerly of Wills Point, will be held at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Jimmie passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at his home.

Jimmie Euell McKnight was born July 30, 1933, in Wills Point, Texas, to Robert Euell McKnight and Lucille Hand McKnight. He was raised in Dallas, where he attended school until his high school years, later graduating from Wills Point High School. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin.

In 1955, Jimmie married Shirley Ann Tucker, and they lived in Dallas before making their home in Rockwall in 1977. He built a successful career in sales with Stover Steel Construction, a commercial construction company, retiring in 1985. Jimmie was a faithful member of White Rock United Methodist Church.

Fondly known as “Big Daddy,” Jimmie was a devoted and loving father. He coached his children in sports and faithfully attended their games, as well as the games and activities of his grandchildren. His steady presence and encouragement left a lasting mark on his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Euell McKnight and Lucille Hand; his wife, Shirley Ann McKnight; his brother, Bill McKnight; and his stepmother, Velma McKnight.

Jimmie is survived by his sons, Kevin McKnight and wife Jennifer of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Keith McKnight and wife Christi of Rockwall; his daughters, Michele McKnight and husband Tom Porter of Richardson, and Patricia McKnight of Dallas; and his cherished grandchildren, Shane Swartz, Wendy Weinman, Kellie Marriott, Joseph Weinman, Niki Andrews, and Colton McKnight; and nine great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication as a father and grandfather, and the warmth behind the nickname “Big Daddy.”
