Funeral services for Jerry “Eli” McPherson, 79, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Eli will be interred at Small Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Eli passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Grand Saline, Texas.
Jerry Eli McPherson was born on November 4, 1946, in Wills Point, TX, to Eli Jackson McPherson and Audie Lee Gilmore McPherson. He was raised in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School, Class of 1965. Eli proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
He married Carol Johnson in May of 1967 in Edgewood. The couple lived in Norfolk, VA, while Eli was serving, then moved to Mesquite, TX, where they lived from 1968 to 1972. In 1973, Eli and Carol settled in Edgewood, where they made their home. Eli worked as an aircraft engine mechanic for several Aircraft Engine & Accessory Co.’s in Dallas until retiring in 2014. He was of the Baptist faith. Eli enjoyed ranching, fishing, and sports, and especially loved keeping up with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Audie McPherson; his son, Jody McPherson; his brothers, Elbert Ray McPherson and Henry “Hank” McPherson; and his nephew, Don Wann, Jr.
Eli is survived by his wife, Carol McPherson of Edgewood, TX; son, Clint McPherson of Edgewood, TX; daughter-in-law Brandi McPherson of Edgewood; sister, Patt Wann and husband, Don, of Edgewood, TX; grandchildren, Travis McPherson, Trey McPherson, Brooklyn McPherson, and Blair McPherson; along with two step-grandchildren, Ashley Morgan and Blake Gilbert and four great grandchildren.
