Jerry Lee Symns, 83, of Mabank, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2024, in Athens, Texas.
Born on July 12, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, Jerry was the beloved son of Philip William Symns and Thelma Christine Harris. He grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. Jerry proudly served his country in the Army National Guard before pursuing higher education at North Texas University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
Jerry spent the majority of his life in the Dallas Metroplex, where he established himself as a respected Certified Public Accountant and used car salesman. Throughout his career, he contributed his expertise to prominent organizations such as EDS, Exxon Mobil, Precision Motors and Auto Company of Dallas. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was a cherished member of the Canton First United Methodist Church community. Jerry had a passion for the simple joys in life. He had a special love for his cows and classic cars, found delight in singing and was known for his knack as a "sticker picker." His warm presence and generous spirit touched the lives of many.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Symns, in 2019, and his brothers, Phil Symns and Larry Symns.
He is survived by his loving family, including his son, Grant Symns and his wife, Amy, of Canton, Texas; his daughters, Dana Symns McConnell of Houston, Texas, and Jessica Symns Young and her husband, Bruce, of Forney, Texas. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Philis Knox and her husband, Charles, of Rockwall, Texas. His legacy lives on through his adored grandchildren, Ali Nasser, Garrett Woodall and his wife, Yulissa, Genevieve Young, Sophie Symns, and Sara Symns
