Jerry Richard Neill, 71, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Dallas Regional Hospital in Mesquite, TX.
Jerry was born on October 12, 1950, in Terrell, TX, to George Henry Neill and Irma Dean Vick Neill, who passed away just after Jerry’s 2nd birthday. After her passing, Irma Dean’s sister, Alma Fay Hargrove and her husband Felix Hargrove, raised him in Pleasant Grove where he graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1969. Jerry later attended Paris Junior College on a baseball scholarship, then obtained a Bachelors of Science degree with a focus on physical education and history at Texas A&M University-Commerce. When he married, Jerry resided with his family in Coppell, TX, and eventually moved to Fort Worth, TX, in 2010. Jerry became disabled in December of 2011 and lived in Fort Worth before moving to Christian Care Center in Mesquite, TX, in August of 2013.
Jerry lived and worked in the Dallas, TX, area throughout his career as an actor and entertainer. His roles include various commercial work throughout North Texas during the 1970s and 80s, as well as appearances on the Emmy award-winning tv series, Dallas. Jerry also assumed the role of disc jockey throughout his career, working private events in the DFW metroplex for companies, such as Mary Kay Cosmetics. From 1993-2003, Jerry successfully worked as a Bill Clinton impersonator for both Las Colinas Studios and independently, making state-wide event appearances.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Henry Neill and mother, Irma Dean Vick Neill; uncle, Felix Hargrove; brother, John Benjamin Neill; nephews, John Russell Neill and Troy Meerscheidt; and former fiancé, Linda Eikenberry.
Jerry is survived by his aunts, Alma Fay Hargrove of Mesquite, TX, and Linda Mae Neill Harris of Cedar Grove, TX; former wife and mother of his children, Sandra Coplin-Neill of Coppell; daughters, Shawn Neill and fiancé, Ryan Detten of Frisco, TX, and Shannon Neill-Matthews and husband, Serafin of Lynchburg, VA; sister-in-law, Jenelle Byrd and husband, Mark of Dallas, TX; sisters, Charlotte Duke and husband, Fred, of Terrell, TX, Margaret Stone of Levelland, TX, and Rebecca Meerscheidt and husband, Rives, of Cheyenne, WY; cousin, Horace Hargrove and wife, Margie of Heath; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, February 14, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Funeral services for Jerry are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 15, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery. The family requests that everyone please wear a mask.
