Jerry Hamilton Humphrey

Jerry Hamilton Humphrey, 79, of Fairfield Bay, AR, formerly of Wills Point, TX, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairfield Bay. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Jerry was born on September 14, 1943, in Hooks, TX. He graduated from Hooks High School in 1962 and then served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam war. In 1984, Jerry graduated from Southern Methodist University, Southwest School of Banking in Dallas. He was in the banking industry in various places, but most of his banking career he was employed as Vice President of First National Bank in Wills Point. Jerry then moved and worked in Seoul, Korea, where he received an occupation medal for serving as a civil servant in a war zone. While in Seoul, Jerry taught at Seoul University, teaching English as a second language to children in their homes. He moved back to the United States where he was employed as a bus driver and a coach until his retirement. Jerry was of the Methodist faith and loved the Lord. He loved his family with all his heart. His favorite pastimes were golfing, traveling, cruising and he loved his pets.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Frances Dawson Humphrey; nephew, Ricky Humphrey; stepson, Russell Cole.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Fran Humphrey of Fairfield bay, AR; son, Jeffrey Humphrey and wife, Shanna of Rockwall, TX; daughter, Leslie Humphrey Cartwright and husband, Matt of Wills Point, TX; stepson, Kenneth Mayle of Fairfield Bay, AR; stepdaughters, Robyn Malbrough of Ponchatoula, LA, and DeAnna Hawthorne of Texarkana, AR; brother, Paul Humphrey and wife, Chellia of Richardson, TX; sister, Patricia Wallace and husband, Jim of Richardson, TX; former wife and mother of his children, Phillis Humphrey of Wills Point, TX; grandchildren, Parker Humphrey, Brynden Humphrey, Blake Cartwright, Kaci Cartwright and Mason Cartwright.
