Funeral services for Jerry Preston Goolsby, 83 of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, June 24, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Private family burial will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.

Jerry passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Dallas.

Jerry was born on September 6, 1938, in Lamar Co, TX, to parents Luther Preston Goolsby and Amy Ida Haley Goolsby. He was raised in Pinhook, TX, and graduated from Paris High School. Jerry served his country when enlisting in the United States Army. He later moved to Dallas and worked for Dallas Power & Light. Jerry married Dorothy Ruth Jones on February 18, 1961. He retired from TXU (formerly Dallas Power & Light) in 1992, and they made their home in Edgewood in 1993. He was a deacon at Grace Temple Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Edgewood and Lakeside Baptist Church. Jerry loved sports, coaching his daughter in softball. He enjoyed waterskiing and working on cars.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther (Preston) and Amy Goolsby; wife, Dorothy Ruth Goolsby; daughter, Sherry Ruth Goolsby; brother, Maurice Goolsby; sister, Bennie Jean Funderburg.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Susan Teggatz of McKinney, TX; brothers-in-law, Jim Jones and wife, June of Edgewood, TX, and Wayne Jones and wife, Jan of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Haley Hancock and husband, Jarett of Prosper, TX, and Matthew Teggatz of McKinney, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
