Janie Ruth Orsborn

Funeral services for Janie Ruth Orsborn, 75, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, September 4, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Janie passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in Tyler.

Janie Ruth Keel was born on February 9, 1945, in Ventura, CA, to parents, Sam Frederick Keel and Eva Ruth Weir Keel. She was raised in Troup, TX and graduated from Troup High School. After high school, Janie attended Trinity Valley Community College at the Terrell Campus and obtained a Science degree. Janie married Jerry William Orsborn on May 1, 1964, and they lived in Dallas. While in Dallas she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator for a few years. She and Jerry moved to Edgewood in 1966, to raise their children. Janie later worked for TXU (Dallas Power & Light) and retired in November of 1999. She enjoyed watching British movies, being around her friends and working out at the fitness center. Janie loved spending time with her family and always made Christmas and birthdays special for everyone.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam Frederick and Eva Ruth Keel; sister, Norma Jean Nash; nephew, Sam Nash.

Janie is survived by her husband, Jerry William Orsborn; children, Barry Orsborn and wife, Jeanne and Sherry Orsborn-Givens and husband, Barry; grandsons, David Orsborn, D’Andre Givens and Jai’on Peace-Givens; brother-in-law, Jimmy Orsborn and wife, Gwendolyn; nephews, Richard Kinney, Stephen Kinney, Terry Orsborn, Randy Orsborn and wife, Shannon, and Robbie Nash and wife, Kate; great niece, Sydney Orsborn; great nephew, Reese Orsborn; most favorite cousin, James Colvin and wife, Sandra and his two daughters, Kim Dodson and Connie Harbuck and husband, Robbie; along with a host of other cousins, family and friends.  

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
