Janet Warner Obituary

Janet Warner, 78, of Wills Point, TX, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Rockwall, TX.


Janet was born on September 2, 1947, in Wachula, FL, to Lonnie and Elizabeth Roberson. She was later adopted by Elvin and Josephine Mitchell. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1964, attended Tyler Junior College where she earned her associate degree in Elementary Education, and continued her studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning her Bachelor of Education. Janet later received her Master of Education in Special Education from Texas A&M–Commerce.

On June 21, 1980, Janet married the love of her life, Dickie Warner. She worked for Dallas ISD as an elementary teacher before retiring in 2007 as a special education teacher. During many of her summers, she enjoyed serving as a teacher and cook at First Baptist Day Care or working as a hospice home health CNA with Country Nurses.

Janet is survived by her son, Mitchell Warner of Wills Point, TX; daughter, Kristi Lyon and husband, J.C., of Wills Point, TX; granddaughters, Mikayla Cain and husband, Kyler, of Wills Point, TX, and Mckynley and Mckenna Lyon, both of Wills Point, TX; grandson, William Warner of Wills Point, TX; sister, June Wuthrich and husband, Marvin, of Point Venture, TX; and brother, Charles Mitchell and wife, Linda, of Forney, TX.

She is also survived by nieces Linda Starks of Taylor, TX; Mary Loup and husband, Jason, of Houston, TX; Jill Deline and husband, Mike, of Round Rock, TX; and Jennifer Herber of Austin, TX; nephews Jeffery Herber and wife, Carla, of Austin, TX; Brandon Doerfler and wife, Jennifer, of Houston, TX; Chase Mitchell and wife, Martha, of Garland, TX; Rickey McEnturff and wife, Tammy, of Wills Point, TX; Rusty McEnturff and wife, Kim, of Wills Point, TX; and J.J. Warner and wife, Lauren, of Fort Worth, TX; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Warner; parents, Elvin and Josephine Mitchell; sisters, Carolyn Mitchell and Ruby Herber; brother, Steve Doerfler; sister-in-law, Donna Doerfler; nephew, Alden Bess III; in-laws, Lois and Ollie Warner; sister-in-law, Sharon McEnturff; and brothers-in-law, Raymond McEnturff and John Warner.

Janet had a strong and enduring relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Wills Point, TX. Those who knew her remember her deep love of teaching, fishing, puzzles, and ice skating in her younger years. Janet loved being outdoors and took great pride in her work as a teacher, often sharing how special each of her students was to her. She also had a tremendous heart for caregiving and cherished the summers she spent as a hospice home health CNA.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Crestwood in Wills Point, TX, for the love and care they provided Janet over the past seven years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Round Em Up Cowboy Church in Wills Point, TX.
