Janet Hahn Obituary

Janet Leigh Hahn (Forgey) passed away on April 16, 2022, at her home in Wills Point, Texas, after a long battle with cancer. She was raised in Independence, Missouri where she was born on April 28th, 1951, to Paul and Virginia Dickinson Forgey. She graduated from Van Horn High school in 1969. She had a long and successful career as a legal secretary, most recently as an office manager for Constangy, Smith, Brooks, and Prophete.

She loved her annual trips with her high school friends, the Silly Seven, and spending time with her family, whether visiting her grandchildren or going on trips with her sister and cousin. Her husband thanks God she put up with him. She was a compass and guided him through life. She was a great cook, articulate, spoke Russian, an avid puzzler, crossword enthusiast, and a voracious reader. Everyone who met her loved her. She was the sweetest, kindest, and most giving soul. Her laugh was contagious and if your joke was witty enough you might even get a snort out of her. Some in her family referred to her as “Saint Janet”.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Michael Hahn, her children Grant Hahn, Hayley Hahn-Carrizales (Ruben), and Heather Hahn (Will Chang), her sister Paula Forgey Egan, cousin Pat Forgey, grandchildren Gabriel Carrizales, Alanna Leigh Carrizales, and Artemis Hahn. She was preceded in death by her daughter Erin Ripley. Janet will be missed but never forgotten.

The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Baylor Scott & White T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital, the doctors and nurses, and especially the people who park the cars who made trips to the center bearable, and to all the friends and extended family who reached out with kind words and support. In addition, they want to thank Hunter Johnson her long-time friend, and boss as well as all of the employees at the remarkable Constangy, Brooks, Smith, and Prophete law firm for their flexibility in allowing her to continue her work which she was immensely proud.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local blood bank. A festival of memories in honor of Janet will be held in Wills Point, Tx, on their small ranch in the afternoon on October 9th. Arrangements were made at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
