A celebration of life for James “Michael” Henderson, 76, of Wills Point, TX, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, August 12, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Michael passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home.
James Michael Henderson was born on July 30, 1946, in Henderson, TX, to parents James Woodman Henderson and Wanda Teresa Coursey Henderson. He was raised in Winnsboro where he graduated from high school. Michael was married for over 30 years to Mable Diane Henderson. While married, he and Mable lived in various places while serving his country in the United States Air Force. Mable preceded him in death in 1997. Michael met Cheryl Ann Mitchell through his sister in 1998. They danced the night away the first time they met and later married on November 20, 1999, in Seagoville at Shadow Creek Ranch. Michael worked in downtown Dallas for over 35 years as a commercial building engineer. He later retired and was employed by the City of Terrell for 8 years joking that he “made tall grass short”. Michael always told stories of his childhood with his East Texas family and his beloved uncle Sonny and aunt Francis. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go fishing on Lake Tawakoni where he and Cheryl lived.
James is survived by his wife, Cheryl Henderson of Wills Point, TX; sister, Teresa Henderson Hodges; brother, Jimmy Kyle Henderson and wife Jody; daughter, Heather Degohey and husband Steve; son, Jeremy W. Henderson and wife Jamie; step-daughter, Angela Zumbro and step-son, Stevephon W. Easler and wife Tracie; ten grandchildren and numerous family other family and friends that he loved so dearly.
