James "Jimmy" Cruz Obituary

Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Lloyd Cruz, 88, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2019, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.  Burial is scheduled for 2:30 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.

 

Jimmy passed away July 6, 2019, at his home in Edgewood.

 

James Lloyd Cruz was born October 15, 1930, in Ferris, TX, to parents Rev. Samuel Frank Cruz and Mary Bell Fulton Cruz. He was raised in the Dallas area and graduated from Seagoville High School. Jimmy enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves in 1948 and served as a Fireman until 1957. He met Liane Loudermilk at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and they married in Dallas in February of 1951. They lived in Dallas where they raised three boys, David, Phillip and Jim. Jimmy was Vice President of Stanley Drug Company until he retired at age 51. He was of the Baptist faith. Jimmy enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with friends and family. He tinkered in small engine mechanics, enjoyed reading and playing his banjo and loved to ride his motorcycle.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Frank and Mary Cruz and wife, Liane Cruz.

 

Jimmy is survived by his sons, David Cruz and wife Kathy of Edgewood, Phillip Cruz and wife Rebecca of Edgewood and Jim Cruz of Ben Wheeler; brothers, Earnest Cruz and wife Wanda of Mesquite and Philip Cruz and wife Carol of Dallas; sister, Mary Moore and husband Howard of Sachse; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; along with numerous nieces and nephews.  

 

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
