Funeral services for James “Jim” Moore, 80, of Emory, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM, at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. The family has requested for masks to be worn during all services.
Jim passed away on Saturday, August 6, in Tyler.
James “Jim” Lawrence Moore was born on September 8, 1941, in Denton, TX, to parents Alfred Lawrence Moore and Martha Lucille Worthington Moore. He was raised in Dallas, where he met his high school sweetheart, Carroll George, at WW Samuel High School. Jim and Carroll were married on July 8, 1961, and they lived in Dallas where they made their home. He was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas for 33 years before retiring. Jim and Carroll retired and moved to Wills Point in 1991, and eventually moved to Emory in 2007. He was a Mason and a Shriner in Dallas where he held various leadership roles. Jim was a member of Cartwright Baptist Church and was deeply rooted in his faith. His life-long passions for hunting and fishing were apparent with fishing trips to Canada, his many deer hunting expeditions and pheasant hunting in the Dakotas. Jim also loved to cook especially for holidays with his family. He was devoted to his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Moore.
Jim is survived by his wife Carroll Moore of Emory, TX; daughter, Sherri Latter and husband Max of Colleyville, TX; and grandson, Charlie Foster and partner Brett Farrar of Dallas, TX.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
The family is accepting flowers at Hiett’s LyBrand, but also suggests memorial contributions to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital if so inclined.
