James “Jim” Johnson, 75, of Canton, TX, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
James Alfred Johnson was born on February 24, 1947, in Dallas, TX, to parents Alfred Marion Johnson and Jonnie Lou Capehart Johnson. He was raised mostly in California where he graduated high school. Jim attended Fullerton Community College in California and later UT Arlington for art. He was a career painter, drawer and sculptor. Jim was drafted by the United States Army and served his country. He was introduced to his partner of 33 years, Richard, and they lived in St. Louis, MO, while Richard played for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. After Richard retired they made their home in Rowlett, TX. Richard preceded Jim in death. Jim moved to Canton in 2012, to be near family. He and Richard were very staunch in their belief of Jesus Christ and gave to numerous missions and outreaches throughout their lives. Jim enjoyed cooking and loved to go to garage sales.
He is preceded in death by parents; and partner of 33 years, Richard.
Jim is survived by his brother, John Douglas Johnson of Canton, TX; sister, Linda Smith and husband Dave of Wills Point, TX; and his only niece whom he had a special relationship with, Natalie Claunch and husband Chad of Corinth, TX
