A celebration of life for James Alton Knox, 75, Edgewood, TX, is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, October, 2, 2021, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
James passed away on Sunday, September, 26, 2021, with his family at his side at his home.
James Alton Knox was born on August 21, 1946, in Canton, TX, to parents Jessie Aldon Knox and Willie Jo Chaney Knox. He was raised in Canton, TX and was a 1964 graduate of Canton High School. James married Linda Gail Gregory on October 4, 1996, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood where they made their home. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force in the Office of Special Investigations for 21 years before retiring. James was Chief of Police in Edgewood for 6 years. He was also employed by Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Co for 10 years. James was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Willie Jo Knox and 2 of his brothers, Truman Knox of Canton, TX and Bill Knox and his wife Maudie Knox of Austin, TX.
James is survived by his wife, Linda of Edgewood, TX; stepdaughter, Monica Roy and husband, Tommy of Edgewood, TX; stepson, Robert Duggan of Longview, TX; brother, Sam Knox and wife, Melva of Hideaway Lake, TX; three grandchildren, Ruby Caroline Spence, Caitlin Paige Spence and Nickolas Roy; special friends, Linda Jones of Canton and Beverly Dudley of Terrell; a dear caretaker, Morgan Brown of Edgewood; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
