James Lloyd King, Sr.

Funeral services for James Lloyd King, Sr., 79, of Wills Point, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, January 16, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery.

James passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in Fort Worth.

James Lloyd King, Sr. was born on February 13, 1943, in Malta, TX, to parents Lloyd George King and Gail Guyton King. He was raised in DeKalb, TX, where he graduated from high school. James met Linda Gayle Broach in 1972, and they later married on June 28, 1974. He and Linda made their home in Duncanville, where they owned and operated Duncanville Marine and Boat Sales. They moved to Wills Point in 1978, where they owned and operated King’s Marine on Lake Tawakoni. James founded the Wills Point Youth Sports Association in 1986. From 1990 to 1996, James was an honorary game warden for Van Zandt County and surrounding areas. James and Linda loved to keep a beautiful garden.  They won “Garden of the Year” from Better Homes & Gardens and were featured in the magazine with pictures of their flowers and vegetables. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool. He also loved sitting on his swing, mowing his yard and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gayle King; parents, Lloyd and Gail King; son, Steve King. 

James is survived by his sons, James Wade King of Florida and James King, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Wills Point, TX; daughters, Charlotte Brewer and husband Brad of Wills Point, TX, and Shiree Bennett and husband Matt of Wills Point, TX; brother, Richard King of Missouri; sister, Debi Jones of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Shane King and wife Jennifer, Lindy Dodgen and husband Scott, Cassidy Jones and husband Chris, Caden Bennett and wife Bailee, Coby Bennett, James “Trey” King, III and wife Ashley, Brittany Everett and husband Jesse, Dalton King and wife Avery, Lacey King, Trey King, Heavyn King, Hailey Brewer, Bryce Brewer and Bryar King; great grandchildren, Kaylee King, Catch King, Jaxson Jones, Josie Jones, Hadley Dodgen, Hayden Dodgen, Jolee Everett, Jesse Everett, Presley King, Nova, Alylah King, Kain King and Jaycee Crowsey; along with many other relatives and friends.
